3D Scanner Function
Jul 14, 2017

1. The purpose of a three-dimensional scanner is to create a point cloud on the geometric surface of an object these points can be used to interpolate the surface shape of the object, the more dense the point cloud can create a more accurate model (this process is called three-dimensional reconstruction), if the scanner can obtain the surface color, you can further on the reconstructed surface of the texture map, that is so-called material mapping.

2. Three-dimensional scanners can be modeled as cameras, their range of sight is cone-shaped, and the collection of information is limited to a certain extent. The difference is that the camera captures the color information, while the three-dimensional scanner measures the distance.
